Slightly cooler temperatures Friday, storms possible for weekend

Temperatures in the metro-east will be a little bit cooler Friday under mostly sunny skies.

The high will reach 90, which is three degrees warmer than the average high in the metro-east for June 24, according to the National Weather Service. But it’s seven degrees cooler than the high Thursday of 97.

It will become partly cloudy Friday night when the low will drop to 72.

There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Saturday when the high will rebound to 93 and the heat index is expected to reach 101. The best chance of rain will come after 1 p.m.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain Saturday night when the low will be 75.

On Sunday, there is a 40 percent of thunderstorms with a high of 93 and a heat index that is expected to exceed 100 degrees.

The low will be 73 Sunday night with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms.

The high will be 93 again on Monday. But, after that, temperatures will be much cooler next week with highs in the low to mid 80s.
