Swansea police recently joined the coordinated effort to investigate reports of damaged and stolen mailboxes in St. Clair County.

Over the past few days, police said several Swansea residents have contacted them. Similar reports of theft and damage have been made in Shiloh and O’Fallon.

Swansea police stated in a post to social media on Sunday that a large number of damaged mailboxes were recovered near Warwick Place in the Knolls subdivision. It is unclear if the contents of the mailboxes were also recovered.

Shiloh police have been investigating since they received multiple reports of vandalized mailboxes in the Hunters Crossing subdivision on Monday.

Police said the incidents of theft and damage are occurring at night and that there are no suspects at this time. Anyone with information regarding the cases is asked to contact the Swansea Police Department at 618-233-8114.
