A sandwich shop was revealed as the first tenant in a Collinsville strip center that will be built near a planned Walmart Neighborhood Market.

According to NAI Desco Vice President Tim Johnston, a Firehouse Subs will occupy the westernmost suite in a 9,570-square-foot building that will be built at 1095 Beltline Road. It would be the third Firehouse location in the metro-east. The others are in Fairview Heights and Granite City.

Johnston said another tenant is under contract for a suite in the center but couldn’t yet say who it was. The building will be ready for use this fall. The Walmart Neighborhood Market will be built at 1101 Beltline Road after the existing building there — it once was a Kmart — is demolished.

The Walmart and the strip center straddle the northern corners of the intersection of Beltline Road and Keebler Road. According to NAI Desco, the intersection sees a high volume of traffic: 20,100 cars per day along Beltline and 9,200 cars per day along Keebler.
