Church fire reported in New Douglas

New Douglas firefighters responded to a report of a church fire early Friday morning.

Firefighters said the top of the steeple at New Douglas Baptist Church appeared to be smoking, but no flames could be seen. The church is located at 407 N. First St. in New Douglas. Firefighters believed the fire may have originated from a lightning strike.

No one was injured as a result.
