High heat index, small chance of rain in metro-east Tuesday

Temperatures in the 90s and a slight chance of precipitation will continue this week in the metro-east, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday is set to be hot and humid with a high of 94 and a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms after 7 a.m. Heat index values may reach as high as 103.

A 20 percent chance of storms and a low of 74 is set for Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies.

The full week’s forecast is detailed below:

Wednesday...Hot and humid. Partly sunny with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the lower 90s. Highest heat index readings of around 100 in the afternoon. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday night...Partly cloudy with chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening...Then mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely after midnight. Low in the mid 70s. South wind around 10 mph in the evening becoming light after midnight. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Thursday...Hot and humid. Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the lower 90s. Highest heat index readings of around 100 in the afternoon. West wind around 10 mph in the morning becoming light in the afternoon.

Thursday night...Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low around 70.

Friday...Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 80s.

Friday night...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s.

Saturday through Monday...Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 80s to lower 90s. Low around 70.
