I-270 bridge to be reduced to one lane in each direction

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to reduce lanes on the Interstate-270 bridge over the Mississippi River to one lane in each direction beginning Friday night, at midnight, weather permitting, the agency said.

Workers plan to seal the eastbound and westbound bridge decks, the agency said.

These lane closures will remain in place until completion, which is expected to be on Sunday at 9 p.m., IDOT said.

Motorists are urged to use caution, IDOT said.
