Edwardsville to accept applications for Citizen’s Police Academy

The Edwardsville Police Department is now accepting 20 applicants for the Citizen’s Police Academy.

The academy strives to strengthen the relationship between citizens and police officers by introducing participants to life as a police officer. Participants will be able to learn more about topics including drug trends and investigation, law review, and firearms familiarization in a hands-on environment.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old to be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Priority will be given to Edwardsville residents.

The academy will meet weekly on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks with its first session on Sept. 15.

Those interested can find an application on the City of Edwardsville’s website at www.cityofedwardsville.com. A $25 registration fee is required.
