Scorcher on Saturday as heat warning continues; cooler temps arrive Monday

Temperatures on Saturday were forecast to reach the high 90s as the metro-east remains under an excessive heat warning through Sunday.

Saturday’s high will be about 98, with high humidity and a heat index as high as 110 degrees. A spot storm is possible.

Tonight...Mostly clear. Low in the upper 70s. Highest heat index readings of around 109 early in the evening. Southeast wind around 10 mph in the evening becoming light after midnight.

Sunday...Hot and humid. Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the upper 90s. Highest heat index readings of around 110 in the afternoon. Light wind.

Sunday night...Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 70s. Highest heat index readings of around 107 early in the evening. Light wind.

Monday...Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly sunny. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 90. Light wind in the morning becoming northeast around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the lower 70s.
