Illinois 3 to have lane restriction in Granite City

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have lane restrictions on southbound Illinois 3, where it passes under Interstate 270, in Granite City, in order to replace a damaged bridge beam, the agency said.

Beginning Monday daily closures are planned of one lane on southbound Illinois 3 under I-270, however one lane of Route 3 will remain open to traffic at all times, IDOT said.

The restrictions are planned on weekdays from Aug. 1 through Aug. 12, weather permitting.

On Aug. 6, beginning at 6 a.m., all lanes of southbound Illinois 3 are scheduled to be closed under I-270, IDOT said.

No traffic will be allowed to travel in the southbound lanes of Illinois 3 at this location, during the removal and replacement of a damaged bridge beam, IDOT said. A marked detour is planned.

All lanes of southbound Route 3 are expected to reopen to traffic by 8 p.m. on Aug. 6.

Traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes, IDOT said.
