IDOT: Road closure planned in New Baden on Wednesday

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have a road closure on Illinois 161 (Summerfield South Road) between Richter School Road and Renth Road near New Baden, the agency said.

The road is scheduled to close on Wednesday, from 6:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., weather permitting, the agency said.

The road closure is necessary to allow the Norfolk Southern Railroad to rehabilitate its crossing, IDOT said.

A marked detour is planned to be in place to guide motorists around the closure. IDOT asked that travelers to be patient and to use caution near and throughout the work area.
