Man responsible for selling crack, heroin gets jail time

A Centreville man was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for drug distribution, the U.S. Attorney’s Office Southern District of Illinois said.

Wilbert M. Sewell, 37, was sentenced on Tuesday to 37 months in federal prison. In April pleaded guilty to four federal felony charges, including distribution of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute heroin and crack cocaine.

When Sewell pleaded guilty, he admitted selling heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine to a police informant in East St. Louis on four separate occasions between August 2015 and October 2015.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southwestern Illinois conducted the investigation, the U.S. Attorney’s office said.
