Cooler temps for weekend, but slight warmup in the week ahead

Finally, some cooler weather has arrived in the metro-east. The forecast for Saturday called for a high in the mid-80s.

The region should stay dry until Sunday evening, when there’s a 20 percenet chance of precipitation.

Here’s the full forecast from the National Weather Service:

Today...Mostly cloudy in the morning and early afternoon then becoming partly cloudy. High in the mid-80s. North wind around 10 mph.

Tonight...Partly cloudy. Low in the upper 60s. North wind around 10 mph in the evening becoming light after midnight.

Sunday...Partly sunny. High in the mid 80s. Light wind.

Sunday night...Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the upper 60s. Light wind.

Monday...Mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the mid 80s. Light wind in the morning becoming east around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday night...Mostly cloudy in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low around 70.

Tuesday...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High around 90.

Tuesday night through thursday night...Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low in the mid 70s. High around 90. Heat index readings of around 100.

Friday...Hot and humid. Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. High in the lower 90s. Heat index readings of around 100.
