IDOT plans I-270 ramp work

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have partial ramp restrictions along Interstate 270 near Granite City through the end of August, weather permitting, the agency said.

Work is planned on the ramp from southbound Illinois 3 to westbound Interstate 270 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on the eastbound I-270 ramp to southbound Illinois 3 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

The work is scheduled to begin Monday and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

The ramps are expected to remain open during the project, but partial ramp restrictions will be necessary, IDOT said.

Workers are slated to paint navigation clearance gauges on the new Chain of Rocks Canal structure, IDOT said.

IDOT urged motorists to be patient, reduce speed, obey all warning signs and allow extra time when traveling through the work zone.
