Thunderstorms likely Friday night in metro-east

High heat, rain and thunderstorms are likely Friday in the metro-east.

The National Weather Service reported that the chance of rain and thunderstorms will go from 20 percent to 50 percent after 2 p.m. Friday with increasing clouds and a high near 91. Heat index values may make it feel like 103 outside.

On Friday night, storms are likely with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. Skies will be cloudy with a low around 74.

A hazardous weather outlook said thunderstorms will generate heavy rainfall Friday and Friday night, affecting portions of southern Illinois and southeast Missouri.
