Pavement work planned on I-70
The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have lane reductions in both directions of Interstate 70 from the I-55/70/270 interchange to 2.7 miles east of the interchange starting Wednesday and running through mid-October, the agency said.
Weather permitting, workers plan to perform pavement repairs on the route, IDOT said.
Workers plan to reduce traffic by one lane in each direction during the project, the agency said.
During the project, IDOT does plan to keep all westbound lanes open from 6 to 9 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and all eastbound lanes open from 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, the agency said.
All lanes are planned to be open Friday through Sunday, IDOT said.
Motorists are urged to use caution, obey all warning signs and allow extra time when traveling through the work zone, IDOT said.
