Don’t Miss This: Attorney General’s office investigating complaints against Collinsville

Don’t miss these stories Wednesday at BND.com:

▪ The Illinois Attorney General’s office is investigating several complaints against Collinsville, each alleging that city leaders violated the state statute governing open public meetings last month.

Since the July 11 City Council meeting, six requests for review have been filed, which formally ask Public Access Counselor Sarah Pratt to determine whether officials acted in violation of the Illinois Open Meetings Act.

▪ Fairview Heights police said a woman faces a misdemeanor child endangerment after her 2-year-old son, who was left in a car at a convenience store, was able to put the car into reverse and drive it onto Lincoln Highway.

The 2-year-old and his infant brother were in the car as it traveled in reverse in circles in the roadway outside Huck’s at 1029 Lincoln Highway on Sunday night, according to a police department news release on Tuesday.

▪ At a recent District 90 school board meeting, several parents and citizens brought up the issue of school district consolidation. Based on that feedback, O’Fallon School District 90 appears to be open to exploring consolidation.

District 90 wrote a letter to Central District 104, O’Fallon District 203 and Shiloh District 85 about three years ago to see if they might be interested in helping fund a consolidation study.

All three school districts replied to District 90, saying they were not in favor of studying consolidation at that time, Board President John Wagnon said.
