▪ A 37-year-old Clinton County woman was charged on Thursday with aggravated driving under the influence and failure to report an accident with an injury in connection with a hit-and-run that left a Pocahontas man with multiple, serious injuries.
Christy G. Cummins was arrested shortly after the collision, which occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in rural Madison County, near Highland, according to court records.
Deputies tracked her down because one of her license plates was knocked off her SUV in the collision and was found at the scene, Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons said.
▪ The civil lawsuit filed against Steven Willis in the death of Samantha Miller has been settled, while the criminal case is still pending.
Miller, 27, was killed on Oct. 23 when she and her three children were stranded beside Interstate 55 when her car broke down. The car that struck her and her vehicle on the side of the road was driven by Willis, 38, of Maryville, who police believe was intoxicated at the time.
Willis is charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
▪ Hospital Sisters Health System announced Thursday that John Ludwig, a registered nurse who had most recently been serving as chief operating officer of two hospitals in Maine, has accepted an invitation to serve as the president at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
Ludwig most recently was the chief operating officer of Bridgton and Rumford Hospitals, both 25-bed critical access hospitals in Maine. Bridgton Hospital was ranked a Top 20 critical access hospitals, and Rumford Hospital was named a Top CAH, by iVantage Health Analytics.
