Lane restrictions planned on I-270 bridge over Mississippi River

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to have daytime lane restrictions on the Interstate 270 Mississippi River Bridge, near Granite City on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the agency said.

Weather permitting, the westbound right lane is scheduled to be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. over the course of the three days, IDOT said. These restrictions are needed to repair the driving surface of the bridge deck.

No overnight lane restrictions are planned, IDOT said.

The restrictions are expected to cause significant delays, and motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes, the agency said.

Traffic control devices will be used to assist motorists through the work zone. IDOT asked motorists to be patient and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
