Belleville School District 118 had 54 fewer employees in 2017 than it had in 2011. The total payroll grew by $2.17 million during those six years to $26.3 million last year.

The highest-paid employee in 2017 at $188,930 was Superintendent Matt Klosterman. The assistant superintendents were next, with Ryan Boike making $151,088 and Tracy Gray making $132,927.

Between 2011 and 2017 the average salary changed from $30,794 to $36,033, which includes substitute teachers and part-time salaries.

St. Clair, Madison and Monroe counties all responded to Illinois Freedom of Information Act requests for 2017 employee salaries. Belleville and Swansea municipal workers are also included.

More local governments will be added to the BND’s public salary database as they are received.
