Do you drive Illinois 159 through Belleville? You’ll need to detour for a few days
Illinois 159 south of downtown Belleville will be shut down from East McKinley Street to East Cleveland Street beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, until 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 so crews can repair a CN/Illinois Central railroad crossing.
“A marked detour will be in place to safely guide motorists around the closure,” the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release.
IDOT says commuters can expect delays on Illinois 159, which is also known as South Illinois Street, in Belleville.
Details of the detour route were not immediately available.
This section of Illinois 159 has about 12,000 vehicles on it each day, according to IDOT.
