Two men charged in Venice nightclub shooting
Two men from Alton have been charged in connection with a shooting that injured six people last month in Venice.
Vincent Gordon, 32, and his younger brother, 31-year-old Vontarious Gordon, face multiple charges in connection with a shooting on June 28 at the C&M Lounge. It began when Vincent Gordon allegedly punched a woman in the face and led to a confrontation with more people in the parking lot. Authorities say Vontarious Gordon fired shots into the crowd with a semiautomatic handgun and then Vincent Gordon fired shots with a rifle.
Six people were injured at the scene, but none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Both men fled the scene before police arrived.
The two were later apprehended and arrested. Both were on parole and initially were charged with one count of unlawful possession of weapons.
On Friday, both were charged with six counts of aggravated battery with a firearm and two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm for allegedly shooting at the lounge and a vehicle in the parking lot.
Bail was set for each at $1 million.
Vincent Gordon was in custody Friday at the Madison County Jail in Edwardsville and awaiting transfer to Missouri for parole violation on a kidnapping conviction.
Vontarius Gordon has a prior conviction in Illinois for aggravated battery with a firearm and has already been transferred to Menard Correctional Center in Chester.
