How did this flatbed trailer end up dangling from a Belleville utility pole?
A flatbed trailer got stuck in an unusual place on East Main Street in Belleville.
While a 2021 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling east on East Main Street Monday, the trailer it was towing became disconnected from the truck due to an unknown cause, Belleville police said.
The trailer then crashed into a utility pole near Florida Avenue, slid up the pole and ended up standing upright, parallel to the pole. It was lodged inches from a no parking sign attached to the pole.
No injuries were reported, according to a statement from Assistant Police Chief Mark Heffernan.
No citations were issued, he said.
Main Street was blocked off while workers from the Belleville Fire Department, Ameren and police carefully lowered the trailer from the pole and cleared the road.
