Belleville teen dies in I-70 crossover crash in Missouri

A 17-year-old boy from Belleville died Monday in a crossover crash on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County, Missouri.

The teen’s name was not released by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

He was driving a 1993 Dodge Stealth east on I-70 near Wentzville Parkway when the crash occurred at 11:33 a.m., according to a report from the highway patrol.

The driver of the Stealth lost control of the sports car, which crossed the median, went through a cable barrier and entered the westbound lanes, where it collided with an oncoming 2018 Mack truck, the patrol said.

The teen was pronounced dead on the scene by first-responders at 11:42 a.m.

A 34-year-old man from Aiken, South Carolina, was driving the Mack truck and was not injured, according to the highway patrol.

The Wentzville, Missouri, Police Department reported the westbound lanes were closed for about three hours because of the crash.
