Circle K recently purchased QuikTrip’s two stations in Belleville. QuikTrip spokesman Mike Thornbrugh said the gas station at 608 McCambridge Ave. in Madison has been sold to Circle K, which had recently announced that it has reached a contract agreement to purchase the QT stations at 1800 Lebanon Ave. and 755 South Belt West in Belleville.
Circle K has opened a number of new locations at existing properties across the metro-east within the past few years. Three years ago, Belleville-based Dickerson Petroleum sold its gas stations to Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. in Laval, Quebec. The deal included 25 gas stations in St. Clair, Madison and Monroe counties that became affiliated with Circle K.
CarMax Inc. has announced its first metro-east location will open by February of next year. The used car retail chain’s metro-east lot is under construction at 1254 Central Park Drive in O’Fallon. CarMax is also opening a new lot in Bloomington, which will bring its number of Illinois properties to eight by next year.
A new Italian eatery is open for business in O’Fallon. Flamentco’s The Place American Eatery has opened 711 W. Highway 50, where Alex’s Pizza formerly operated. At Flamentco’s, pizza is prominently featured on a menu that also includes pasta, wings and salads.
Mascoutah Hardware is now Mascoutah Ace Hardware. The hardware store at 101 E. Main St. has undergone an interior redesign and new signage indicates its new affiliation with Ace Hardware.
An insurance agency will be reoccupying a vacant building in East Belleville. Insurance agent Al Orelt will be establishing an Allstate Insurance office at 1030 Carlyle Ave. The building sat vacant since Mardio’s Frozen Yogurt left the property a few years ago. A renovation is now underway.
And finally, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new ice rink and pool complex to be built in O’Fallon is scheduled for Thursday. The Four Points Center and The McKendree Metro Rec Plex will be a state-of-the-art complex to be developed on 45 acres at the corner Scott Troy Road and Highway 50. The development will include two National Hockey League-sized ice rinks for the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks youth hockey team and an aquatic center and fitness area that will house future water sports for McKendree University.
