Belleville Main Street director Darrell Coons to retire
Darrell Coons, the executive director of Belleville Main Street, will retire from his post at the end of June, the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday.
Belleville Main Street is a department within the chamber.
Coons, 65, said he looks forward to being able to “take some time to just be me” and perhaps do some motorcycle traveling.
Coons said he will continue serving as a fire chaplain for the Belleville, East Side, Northwest and Swansea fire departments.
John Lengerman, executive director of the chamber, said in an email, “Darrell has served in his position for over two years and has continued to build Belleville Main Street as a destination for shopping, dining and fun.”
Lengerman, who previously said he plans to retire this year, said people interested in applying for Coon’s position can go to the Belleville Main Street website or the chamber website for details.
Lengerman said Tuesday he has not yet set a date for his retirement from the chamber and plans to leave at a time that would offer a smooth transition for the chamber leadership.
