New sculpture installed at Glik Park in Highland

The Blanche Hediger Memorial Sculpture was installed in the Highland Garden Club Project at Glik Park on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The sculpture was created by Alex Kovacks of Mohawk, N.Y. Memorial contributions and the children of Blanche and Loyd Hediger funded the project. Blanche had been very active in the early development of the Garden Club project at Glik Park. She became a Master Gardener in 2003. Since most of her Master Gardener training was done in this garden, the family thought it would be a nice way to remember her.

The garden has been the recipient many memorials, due mostly to the fact that the walking path borders the east side of the acre-and-a-half project. The garden itself is located along the Korte Recreation Center parking lot. The sculpture can be seen while driving or walking by.
