St. Jacob Township is sponsoring a free Health Fair for residents of the village of St. Jacob and St. Jacob Township. It will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at the St. Jacob United Church of Christ Heritage Hall, located at 207 W. Main St., from 3 to 6 p.m. The Heritage Hall is handicapped accessible.
Free flu immunizations will be given to persons 18 years or older. Proof of St. Jacob residency is required. The flu vaccine will protect against the H1N1 virus.
The Lions Club will also be offering a free vision screening. A SPOT vision scanner will quickly and easily detect vision issues by taking a picture of the eyes from about three feet away. No physical contact is made with the person, and no type of eye drop is used. The screening results show either that the individual’s vision is within normal range or that he/she needs to see an eye doctor. This vision testing is provided by the St. Jacob Lions as a member of Lions District 1-CN. The screening is for anyone 6 months or older.
