St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland earns another award for quality

Highland is pleased to announce it has been named a 2016 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in clinical quality.

The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients that consistently sustained performance in the top 5 percent of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.

“We are proud and honored to receive the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Quality,” said John Ludwig, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital. “We are dedicated to providing high quality service to all our patients. This award recognizes that dedication and the hard work of our colleagues.”

According to Ludwig, the award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience.

“We are proud to partner with St. Joseph’s Hospital,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. “This award is a testament to the organization’s leadership in delivering patient-centered care. By achieving and sustaining this level of excellence, St. Joseph’s Hospital continues to demonstrate their commitment to reducing patient suffering and advancing the overall quality of health care.”

This is the latest in a string of awards for St. Joseph’s.

The hospital was recognized with two major awards in September. The Illinois Health and Hospital Association honored SJH for its commitment to patient safety and quality with a Quality Excellence Achievement Award in the Rural/Critical Access Hospital category. SJH also received the National Rural Health Association’s (NRHA) Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) award. St. Joseph’s Hospital was named a Top 20 CAH in the Country for Practices in Quality.

Also, in May, St. Joseph’s Hospital was given the “Partner Recognition” Award from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading health care community dedicated to transforming health care worldwide so that it reduces its environmental footprint. The award was one of the Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor environmental achievements in the health care sector.

And in April, St. Joseph’s was recognized by the Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois as one of nine area hospitals for making significant investments over the past several years through hospital projects, expansions, and facility upgrades.
