Alhambra Homecoming will be held at the Alhambra Township Park on Friday, June 2 and Saturday, June 3. This year’s festival marks the 22nd Homecoming since being resurrected by the Alhambra Firemen-Legion Park Association, Alhambra Volunteer Fire Department and the Alhambra Jaycees in 1996.
Clay County Amusements is returning to provide the carnival rides and games and, as in previous years, you will be able to purchase ride armbands for $20 each both nights. Let your kids ride all night while you listen to the awesome bands that lined up for this year.
Jennifer Thompson and “Harvest Drive Band” returns to take the stage at 8 p.m. on Friday night, and local favorite “Buffalo Road” will be rocking the park starting at 8 p.m. Saturday night. You won’t want to miss listening and dancing to either of these exciting bands this year while you enjoy some cold beverages and great food.
Festival organizers are introducing some new food items to the already great menu at the Homecoming Food Stand this year. The stand will still feature fresh fried chicken, fish, and fries, plus burgers, bratwurst, and hot dogs, but this year, chicken strips have been added to the menu. Please note that quantities of the new food items will be limited as they are tried out this year, so make sure you get to the food stand early to get your share. Bottled soda, water and beer will also be available for purchase on the park’s handicap-accessible grounds.

The parade will step off at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. For more information on the parade, contact Don Maine at 618-581-3799. This year’s theme is “Mardi Gras,” so get those floats decorated to reflect the theme.
Homecoming organizers are also looking for any local businesses and organizations to run vendor stands to aid them in raising money for themselves. For more information on getting a space for a vendor stand, contact Jill Gorenz at 488-6465 or via email at email@example.com.
