Mobile phone, tablet repair shop opens in Highland

Need your mobile phone fixed fast? Well, that’s the specialty of a new Highland business.

Cheetah Mobile Device Repairs, located at 12603 State Route 143, Suite G, (next to Little Caesars Pizza), opened its doors to the public June 5.

The business stocks parts for Apple and Samsung devices and other popular mobile device brands.

“If you smashed your screen, if your buttons don’t work, if your charging port or your audio port doesn’t work anymore, those are all things we can fix for you right here in town,” said Cheetah’s owner Kurt Vonder Haar.

And, Vonder Haar said, it will be done fast, hence the shop’s name. Vonder Haar said most repairs can be done with same- or next-day service. And you don’t have to go out of town, as before.

“No one else repairs (or) services mobile devices in the immediate area,” Vonder Haar said.

But, Vonder Haar said, his shop will offer pricing at or below costs at of other regional stores.

Cheetah does not offer fixes for viruses or malware, because at that point, the phone is “basically shot,” Vonder Haar said. For people who find themselves in such a situation, Vonder Haar said the store will also stock used phones and tablets to replace your device.

Vonder Haar was born and raised on a farm near Greenville but has lived in Highland for three years.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a degree in marketing. Besides running his new store, Vonder Haar also works in the medical industry and is a board member for Kids Chance of Illinois. He has two sons, Kohl, who is 11-years-old, and Kasen, who is 6.

“I live in Highland. I care about Highland and I see a strong need for this type of service in our town,” Vonder Haar said. “With my sales and marketing background and network of contacts, I hope to grow by servicing the general public and businesses in the area.”
