Troy Family Summer of Fun series kicks off Friday

What do you get when you combine a magician, a juggler, a caricaturist, free food and a big hero? Well, you get the kickoff for the Troy Family Summer of Fun series.

“We have been doing fun nights in the park for many years” said Dawn Mushill, executive director of the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce. “But, our events have grown into much more than a movie. This year, we have kicked up the entertainment portion and are also offering more free items than ever.”

The first Summer Fun event will take place on Friday, May 15, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Tri-Township Park in Troy.

Entertainment scheduled for that night includes a magician/ventriloquist, a juggler and some dancing fun. DJ Big Papa G will have some hula-hoop contests going on, and there will be prizes for the children.

There will also be free food and refreshments for all who attend.

Then, at 8:15, the movie Big Hero 6 will be shown. Be sure to bring your lawn chair or blanket to sit on.

“These events could not be possible without the help from the Ccty of Troy’s tourism funding, as well as sponsorships” said Mushill.
