Hospital auxiliary to hold used book sale

The Auxiliary of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland will have a used book sale Aug. 2-4 in the Ungacta Conference Center at the hospital. Hours will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2 (preview admission $2), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 (free admission), and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 4 (fill a bag for $3). Hospital auxiliary seeking former members

The HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary will be celebrating it 50th Anniversary in October and is seeking any and all past members. If you, or anyone you know was an auxiliary member for St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland, call Sandy at 654-2417 or Delores at 654-2073 at your earliest convenience.

Garden Club to discuss ‘wildflowers’

The Highland Garden Club will meet on Thursday, July 26 at 7 p.m. at the Korte Recreation Center. The program for this month is “Wildflowers,” presented by Becky McMahon from DJM Ecological Services. Guests are welcome.

Countryside Homes invites all seniors 60 and older to join them for their fun, food and companionship community meal program. Meals are served Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, in the Countryside Community Center, 1331 26th St. Reservations for the upcoming week should be made by 1 p.m. this Friday. Monday, July 30: Roast beef, gravy, baked potato with sour cream, steamed broccoli, peach cobbler.

Tuesday, July 31: Smothered chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered carrots, Jell-O cake with whipped topping.

Wednesday, Aug. 1: Turkey bake, parsley buttered noodles, mixed vegetables, apple crumble.

Thursday, Aug. 2: Ham steak, zucchini and potato bake, cole slaw, yellow cake with chocolate icing.

Friday, Aug. 3: Fish of the day, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, ice cream novelty.
