The Highland Area Schools Alumni Association (HIASAA) announces its 2018 Hall of Fame inductees.
- Arts and Sciences — Larry Mueller, HHS Class of 1944
- Business — Robert Dauderman, HHS Class of 1950
- Career Public Service — James Burgett, Superintendent HCUSD 5 1992-2004
- Sports — Joel Hawkins, HHS Teacher and Coach, 1985-Present
The Hall of Fame was created by HIASAA as a way to honor selected alumni, classmates and employees who have earned recognition for their achievements and contributions in their field of endeavor. In addition to the accomplishments of the inductees, other criteria of the nominations are leadership, character and service. All nominees were, at some point, a student or an employee at a school that was located within what is now the Highland School District’s boundaries, which includes: St. Paul, Highland School District 5, the Pierron school, Alhambra, Grantfork, and New Douglas. Voting was done in May by current HIASAA members.
The 11th annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony and breakfast will take place on Saturday, September 29, at 9 a.m. in the Highland High School commons area. Hall of Fame inductees will also be recognized prior to the start of the homecoming football game on Friday, September 28. The public is invited to attend the breakfast and induction. Reservations are required.
