Belinda Counts, a first-grade teacher at Highland Elementary, can’t wait to start using the new Apple Smartwatch she won from Horace Mann’s Teacher Appreciation Week giveaway.
“I’m looking forward to using the Smartwatch both at home and at school,” said Counts. “There are several iPhone apps that I use in my classroom and having the Smartwatch will make using them even more convenient. It will also be great for keeping up with email and other communication. I also hope to use the Smartwatch as a fitness tracker to keep me motivated to meet my fitness goals.”
Celebrating 70 years of focusing on the financial needs of teachers, Horace Mann is giving out 25 Smartwatches and funding $10,000 in DonorsChoose.org projects during Teacher Appreciation Week.
“Technology is an important tool for teachers,” said Horace Mann agent Amber Ash. “It’s wonderful to see educators get an opportunity to add more of it to the classroom. Thank you to all of the educators who help students every day.”
During Teacher Appreciation Week, Horace Mann also encourages others to show their appreciation for educators by giving to a DonorsChoose.org project, helping in the classroom or simply writing a note of thanks.
