Highland area club meetings for the week of June 4

Madison County Retired Teachers, Unit 3

Madison County Retired Teachers, Unit 3 will meet from 8:45 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 12 at the Collinsville Senior Center, 420 East Main St. in Collinsville. Lunch may be purchased for $5, if desired.

The guest speaker will be Nancy Kaprelian, outreach coordinator for Faith In Action. The meeting will include a discussion on services available to senior citizens. Examples include transportation to appointments, shopping, dining, and light housekeeping.

Highland Area Women’s Connection

The Highland Area Women’s Connection invites all ladies to a “Let’s Get Organized Brunch” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9 at Urban Farmhouse Eatery and Pie Co. (formerly Farmers Restaurant), 15 Central Blvd. in Highland.

Th featured presentation will be by Tara Kleinhoffer, a Belleville East High School Spanish teacher, who will show how to get organized.

Speaker Lulu Minor of East Moline, Ill, is a speaker and vocalist who will share her uplifting message, “Hope Through It All.” Minor knows hope is the ingredient necessary for making it through life.

No membership is required. All women are welcome. Off-site, complimentary child care for infants and preschoolers is available with advance notice.

Cost for this event is $11 per person, which includes the program and brunch buffet, and is payable at the door.

NARFE Chapter 1019

The next meeting of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1019 will be held on Wednesday, June 10 in the meeting room at the Golden Corral, 3360 Green Mount Crossing Road in Shiloh. The buffet opens at 11 a.m., and the meeting begins at noon. Guests are always welcome.

The guest speaker will be Doug Matzenbacher of AAA Auto Club and Insurance. He will cover the many services provided by AAA and inform how to make your membership work for you.

The NARFE Service Center is located in Building 50, 201 East Winters St. at Scott Force Base, on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members are available to assist with pertinent paperwork and to accept memberships. Phone (618) 256-9350. Feel free to leave a message.

Madison County Genealogical Society

The Madison County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 in the Community Room of the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St. Angela Custer, director of the Carrollton, Ill., library will speak on the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis. Guests are always welcome.
