MCAHCE holds 79th annual meeting
Madison County Association for Home and Community Education held it’s annual meeting on April 27 at the LeClaire Christian Church in Edwardsville.
The business meeting included installation of officers for the 2015-16 calendar with IAHCE president, Jane Chapman doing the honors. Forty eight new members joined HCE this past year.
Members were recognized years in the club. There were two 50-year members, Marie Mindrup of the Alhambra-Leef and May Bohnenstiehl of Marine; 55-year members were Lorene Uhe of Alhambra-Leef, Mercelete Kinder of Prairie, and Genevieve Hill, member-at-large.
The Blue Ribbon Clubs were Creative Women in Granite City; Edwardsville B and GROW in Edwardsville; Prairie of Prairietown and Rox-Ann, Roxana.
College scholarships were awarded to Zachery Plocher, Katelyn Fox and Caleb Greenwell in the amount of $500 each.
The Highland Crafters won the traveling gavel award with 10 new members this past year. The day concluded with lunch, a program by the JOY Chorus and a silent auction.
