Wednesday, Dec. 18:

Marine Toys for Tots — Through Thursday, Dec. 19. Madison County is collaborating with local veteran service organizations and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves to collect items for those in need this holiday season. Individuals are invited to donate new, unwrapped items at the Madison County Administration Building, 157 N. Main St., Edwardsville, and the Wood River Facility, 101 E. Edwardsville Road, Wood River. Highland Illinois Area Schools Alumni Association Nominations — Through Friday, Jan. 31. Nominees wanted for the 2020 Hall of Fame. Persons nominated must have either attended any school in the Highland School District boundaries or been employed by any of the schools, must have demonstrated a high level of achievement in any of the categories and made a significant contribution to that particular field, and must have exhibited leadership, character and service. A brief resume and contact information for the nominee should accompany the form. Applications are available at highlandilalumni.com and due by Friday, Jan. 31. Highland Holiday All Nighter — 4 p.m. Dennis Rinderer Park. This is a 24-hour run during which the six-member team completes the miles as a relay. They are seeking pledges for every mile they log during that time span, and have set a goal to complete at least 150 miles. The money they raise will go to two local families as well as the second phase of the Daley Discovery All-Abilities Playground.
