Boys Basketball

Metro East Lutheran 60, Highland 44

The Highland boys basketball team saw their final game in the Mater Dei Christmas Tournament finish with an empty end.

Metro East Lutheran grabbed control in the first half and did not let go as the Knights handed the Bulldogs a 60-44 loss in the ninth-place game that completed the tournament appearance for both teams.

HHS slipped to 2-12.

Hockey

Highland falls to Belleville West

The Bulldogs hockey team returned to action from the holiday break Thursday with an MVCHA league matchup against Belleville Township.

Highland scored a goal in all of the three periods but a four-goal and three-goal outburst by Belleville in the first and second periods was too much to overcome Belleville parlayed those early surges into a 9-3 win over the Bulldogs.

Sam Karraker paced Belleville with five goals. Lucas Korte turned a hat trick to score all three Highland goals. Highland dropped to 2-12-1.
