Bowling
HHS bowlers knock off Metro-East Lutheran
The Highland bowling teams kept their recent run of success going Wednesday. A trip to Edwardsville went very well for the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs as both teams won their matches over host Metro-East Lutheran.
In the boys match, Hunter Hediger dominated with a 279 high game and 670 high series.
Molly Marshall led the girls with a 236 high game and a 664 high series.
Girls Basketball
Highland 72, Mascoutah 34
Two days after blasting Greenville in the Highland Shootout at home, the Lady Bulldogs took a quick road trip to Mississippi Valley Conference rival Mascoutah and made short work of the Indians.
HHS raced to a double-digit lead in the first 16 minutes and rolled to a 72-34 conference road victory Monday.
Boys Basketball
Edwardsville 63, Highland 25
The Bulldogs returned to action Tuesday at home against Edwardsville and Highland struggled to score early.
Visiting Edwardsville got rolling on the first half and coasted to a 63-25 nonconference victory at HHS.
HHS slipped to 2-14 overall.
Hockey
Belleville 10, Highland 7
Despite their best offensive showing of the season, the Highland hockey club came up a bit short Monday against Belleville.
Highland trailed 3-2 after one period and 7-5 after two periods but Belleville outscored the Bulldogs 3-2 in the deciding third period to hand the Bulldogs a 10-7 loss at East Alton Ice Arena.
Lucas Korte had a monster night for Highland, scoring five goals and notching two assists. Jacob Noll added three assists.
Alton 7, Highland 1
Alton exploded for three goals in the first period en route to an 8-1 MVCHA win over HHS on Tuesday at East Alton Ice Arena. Dylan Krekre scored Highland’s lone goal.
Highland fell to 3-16-1.
