Girls Basketball
Highland 67, Waterloo 23
Just four days after dropping a tough MVC road game at Jerseyville, the Lady Bulldogs got the ship right at home against league foe Waterloo.
Highland started quick against an overmatched Waterloo squad and raced to a 37-16 halftime lead en route to a 67-23 conference win at home Monday, Feb. 10.
HHS senior guards Ellie Brown and Megan Kronk paced the Lady Bulldogs offense with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Boys Basketball
Waterloo 73, Highland 57
For the second time this season in a battle of Bulldogs, Highland came up short against MVC rival Waterloo. HHS fell to Waterloo 73-57 on Friday. Feb. 14, at home. Highland dropped to 2-24 (1-6) with the loss.
Hockey
Highland 3, Edwardsville 2 (shootout)
Only four days removed from suffering a heartbreaking 8-6 loss in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs, the Highland hockey team had a chance for redemption Monday, Feb. 10.
The Bulldogs skaters made it count thanks to a thrilling 3-2 shootout victory over Edwardsville at Granite City Ice Rink.
Lucas Korte led the Bulldogs with two goals and Jacob Noll also scored a goal. Goalie Max Price had 25 saves, as he picked up the win.
Edwardsville 8, Highland 5
Despite scoring five goals in the final two periods, the Highland hockey team’s season came to an end Thursday, Feb. 13, against Edwardsville.
Edwardsville withstood the late Bulldogs rally for an 8-6 win in the third and deciding game of the first round of the MVCHA Class 21 playoffs.
Korte led Highland with three goals and an assist in his final game as a Bulldog. Korte also led the league in points this winter with 102.
Highland finished the season at 4-19-1.
