New Douglas Township will be hosting an electronics recycling day on Saturday, June 27 from 8 a.m. to noon. Recycling is open to residents of the village of New Douglas and New Douglas Township only. Please bring proof of residency that day. A list of acceptable items can be found on the township’s website, newdouglastownship.org, or Facebook page.

Rec Plex to host events for pets/owners

Rec Plex will be hosting a pet care class for kids. The class will be taught by Dr. Edmar Schreiber, DVM, of Schreiber Veterinary Services on Thursday, June 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The class is free and open to ages 7-11. Attendees will learn basic pet care, including how to tell if your animal is overheating in the summer.
On Saturday, June 20, the Rec Plex will be hosting a “Pet Parade in the Park” at 12:30 p.m., following pet clinic (vaccine day) at the park, hosted by Dr. Schreiber. The pet clinic on Saturday runs from 11 a.m. to noon at the Township Park.
Brown Dawg Bakery will be in attendance at the Pet Parade selling tasty treats for your four-legged friend. Leashes are mandatory.
The parade will be canceled in the event of rain.
Rec Plex Day Camps
The Rec Plex is planning two day camps the week of June 22. “Ocean Commotion” is for children ages 2 1/2 to 4, and “Camp Team Builder” is for ages 5 to 10. There are still spots available. Camps are $20 per child and $5 for each additional sibling. You do not need to be a Rec Plex member to attend classes or events.
Rec Plex membership & rental available
There is still time to become a Rec Plex member and enter our summer contest to win a Fitbit. Memberships are $20 per month for family and $15 per month for a single adult. There are also special rates for seniors and discounts available. There are no hidden fees or sign-up fees. The only commitment you make is to yourself.
