The Highland Varsity Cheerleaders do it again, record yet another championship
The Highland varsity cheerleaders wowed the crowd again Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Championship Competition in Springfield.
Their outstanding performance compelled the crowd to clap along and allowed them to bring home the ICCA Coed Championship title for 2022. This team executed a routine filled with difficult skills they perform with ease.
Along with being the ICCA Coed Champions, the team had four Senior Scholar Athletes — Rhea Fowler, Mya Iberg, Allison Reiling, and Brittani Wellen — recognized for their academic achievements.
In addition, Fowler and Wellen received the ICCA scholarships and Fowler also made the ICCA All-State Team for 2022.
The 2022 Highland varsity cheerleading team, coached by Angie Fears and Tess Chlibec, is an extremely talented group of individuals in more ways than one.
The team will perform in the Mississippi Valley Conference Competition on Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Waterloo.
