Alhambra Care Center news
The month of June was a very busy one for the residents of Alhambra Care.
On days when weather permitted, the residents were outside enjoying the sunshine, but there were not a lot of dry days in June this year. Some of the ladies found enough dry weather to go out and pick cherries off the trees in the front of the building. These cherries went into a cobbler for all to enjoy.
Many of the residents living at the home exercised using balloons, balls, nets and swimming pool noodles. Lots of exercise and lots of fun.
Flag Day was celebrated with Debbie Young singing patriotic songs with the karaoke and the residents singing along.
The family of Millie Costello brought a huge birthday cake for everyone to celebrate Millie’s 93rd birthday.
Salem Church to honor 1965 confirmation class
This confirmation class will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the Confirmation Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 2. Members of the confirmation class were James Abert, Carol Henschen, Gary Henschen, Gerry Klenke, Clifford Mueller, Bobbie Reckman, Leonard Suhre and Allan Tipsword. All confirmation classes are invited to attend.
Street Banner Project
Alhambra is looking for a donations from businesses or community organizations to donate toward street banners. They will be similar to the ones that were hung during the sesquicentennial celebration on 1999. Village seeks flag donations
Several years ago, the village had a flag drive to ensure that on special days the flags would be out for all to see and as a reminder of all we have to love about our country. Supplies are getting low again and it is time to replenish the flags. Anyone wishing to donate a new 3 by 5 foot flag may buy one at and donate it. Cost is under $10.
Donations may also be made in honor of or in memory of a past or present service man/woman, or any loved one. Drop flags off at Village Hall or 301 Coral (Freddie Riepshoff’s house). Checks or cash maybe left with Village Clerk or with Riepshoff, and the flags will be purchased.
A list of donors and honorees will be published at a later date.
