Members of the Pocahontas High School class of 1950 celebrated the 65th anniversary of their high school graduation on June 20 with a gathering at the Powhatan Restaurant in Pocahontas.
Ten members of the graduating class were present. Those attending the class reunion were Robert Foehner, Leona (Volentine)Wilfong, Burnell Warnecke, Rich Mason, Marvin Sackett, Ellen Ann (Goodson) Massey, Kenneth Zobrist, Sara (Geries) Wiesemeyer, Doris (Smith) Sugg and Maxine (Wise) Matl.
Foehner and Warnecke attended their first two years of high school at Pocahontas, but due to re-districting school boundaries, were transferred to Breese, and they graduated from there. Marvin Sackett was a member of the class, but didn’t graduate in 1950.
The classmates’ time together showed the old-time friendship they share and the memories they compared. The class enjoyed a lovely and delicious decorated cake donated by Sugg. She also donated two gift certificates, one won by Wiesemeyer and the other by Mason for answering the quiz questions. Sadie Wiesemeyer made the decorations.
