National Alliance on Mental Illness Southwestern Illinois (NAMI SWI) — 7-8:30 p.m. Online via Zoom. Virtual support meetings for family members and other caregivers of individuals with mental illness. Meetings are peer-led and rely on the knowledge and experiences of the group to help one another. St. Louis Symphony Orchestra: Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony — 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, and 8 p.m. Saturday, April 23. Powell Hall, 718 N. Grand Blvd., St. Louis. Conductor Kirill Karabits brings a flourish of light and exuberance for his SLSO debut. Alberto Ginastera’s Harp Concerto casts the SLSO’s Allegra Lilly as mystic, virtuoso, and dancer. Azerbaijani composer Franghiz Ali-Zadeh’s “Nagillar” flickers with the energy of a tale well told. Parkinson’s Disease Discovery Group — 2-3 p.m. Sullivan Conference Room, HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland, 12866 Troxler Ave., Highland. Meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The Sheldon presents Mark Sparks, flute, with Peter Henderson, piano — 8 p.m. (Rescheduled from Feb. 2). The Sheldon Concert Hall, 3648 Washington Blvd., St. Louis. Recently retired St. Louis Symphony principal flute Mark Sparks performs Bohuslav Martinu’s first Sonata for flute and piano, and Robert Schumann’s Sonata in A Minor, originally for violin and piano, arranged by Sparks for flute and piano. Other works include Richard Strauss’ “Romanze,” Franz Doppler’s “Rondo” for Two Flutes and Piano, and a new work by Mizzou composer Robyne Sieh for flute and piano, performed by Peter Henderson and Isabella Saldaña, a student of Sparks’ from O’Fallon, Illinois and a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. 25th annual Tour de Stooges — McKendree University, Melvin Price Convocation Center, 701 College Road, Lebanon. Check-in begins at 5:30 a.m. for long-distance riders. Highland man wins Greenville Country Club tournament

Greenville Country Club held its first golf tournament of 2022 on Saturday, April 9. The overall champion was Brendan Bargetzi from Highland.

Spring one-person scramble

In a one-person scramble, golfers may hit a second shot after any shot/putt. If golfers choose to take a second shot/putt they must use that shot/putt. Overall, 40 golfers participated, including both members and non-members of Greenville Country Club

Championship Flight results:

  • Champion: Bargetzi, shooting a score of 8 under park, 64.
  • Second place: Cole Pickett, shooting a score of 65.
  • Third place: Mike Eaton, shooting a score of 66.
  • Fourth place: Tommy Ponce, shooting a score of 67.

“A” Flight results

  • First place: Joe Kelly, shooting a score of 71 (won in a scorecard playoff).
  • Second place: Dan Weiler, shooting a score of 71.
  • Third place: Gaite Brauns, shooting a score of 72 (scorecard playoff).
  • Fourth place: Mitch Gilman, shooting a score of 72.

“B” Flight results

  • First place: Gene Kious, shooting a score of 78 (won in a scorecard playoff).
  • Second place: Tim Chilovich, shooting a score of 78.
  • Third place: Andrew Ray, shooting a score of 79 (scorecard playoff).
  • Fourth place: Dave “Pug” Rommerskirchen, shooting a score of 79.

2 skins awarded

  • Zach Marchello: He was the only player to score a Birdie 2 on the par 3 hole #8.
  • Tommy Ponce: He was the only player to score an Eagle 3 on par 5 hole #16.

Big shout-out and thanks to Club President Gene Kious, his staff and the head greenskeeper, Bryan Braye. The bar/restaurant did a fantastic job and the course was in great condition.

The next tournament at Greenville Country Club is Saturday, May 7 — “GCC Spring Fling”
