The Highland Splash summer swim team easily sailed to a pair of dual-meet wins last week to raise their season record to an impressive 4-1 mark.

First on Tuesday of last week, the Highland Splash traveled to Freeburg and submerged the Waves by the lopsided score of 365 to 165.

Then last Thursday, the Highland Splash hosted Dorchester and swam laps around the Dolphins by the one-sided count of 372 to 157.

In the home win over Dorchester, Highland won 45 of the 62 total points events, including three of the four meet-opening medley relays, six of the 10 freestyle events, seven of the 10 breaststroke races, six of the eight individual medley competitions, seven of the 10 backstroke events, eight of the 10 butterfly races and six of the 10 meet-ending freestyle relays.

Against the Dolphins, the Splash had three individual swimmers sweep to first-finishes in all three of their events:

▪ Alyssa Freimann in the girls 15-18 100-meter breaststroke (1:33.19), the 100-meter individual medley (1:22.13) and 50-meter butterfly (34.39);

▪ Trey Stephens in the boys 13-14 100-meter freestyle (1:05.44), the 100-meter breaststroke (1:24.53) and the 50-meter butterfly (30.81); and

▪ Ben Walter in the boys 11-12 50-meter breaststroke (43.23), the 100-meter individual medley (1:24.66) and the 50-meter butterfly (39.24).

In last Thursday’s victory at Freeburg, Highland captured first place in 43 of the 62 events. After sweeping the four opening medley relays and both teams splitting the freestyle events, the Splash took over from there to conquer all but two of the breaststroke races, five of the eight individual medley competitions, seven of the 10 in each of the backstroke and butterfly events before finishing strong by winning all but two of the 10 freestyle relays.

The Splash had two individual swimmers garner first place in all three of their individual races:

▪ Ben Thomae in the boys 15-18 100-meter breaststroke (1:16.94), the 100-meter individual medley (1:08.80) and the 50-meter butterfly (29.53).

▪ Anna Henke in the girls 8-under 25-meter freestyle (19.13), 25-meter breaststroke (23.97) and the 25-meter butterfly (24.87).

In addition, Cam Runge won all three of his individual events two weeks ago in the triumph over Kings Point. Runge swam to first place in the boys 9-10 25-meter breaststroke, the 100-meter individual medley and the 25-meter backstroke.

The following are the complete results of the individual point scorers or the relay teams who placed in the top two in each event for the Highland Splash against both the Dorchester Dolphins and the Freeburg Waves:

(All distances are competed in meters. There are three swimmers in total from both teams combined who score in each individual event, so one team is allowed to score its top two swimmers in any one individual event. Therefore, each team is guaranteed to score at least one point in each and every individual event. This does not include the meet-opening medley relays or the meet-ending freestyle relays, in which only the winning team scores seven points.)
