Alhambra Care Center news
Residents of Alhambra Care Center enjoyed the few dry days this week. The Fourth of July was celebrated with sparklers, snakes and poppers. The poppers made a big hit with many of them. Bob Airtime brought a host of patriotic songs to entertain the troops and Hardee’s restaurant in Staunton donated washable eagle tattoos, which were a big hit. To finish off the celebration, everyone enjoyed red, white and blue cupcakes and punch.
Salem Church to honor 1965 confirmation class
This confirmation class will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the Confirmation Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 2. Members of the confirmation class were James Abert, Carol Henschen, Gary Henschen, Gerry Klenke, Clifford Mueller, Bobbie Reckman, Leonard Suhre and Allan Tipsword. All confirmation classes are invited to attend.
Village seeks flag donations
Several years ago, the village had a flag drive to ensure that on special days the flags would be out for all to see and as a reminder of all we have to love about our country. Supplies are getting low again and it is time to replenish the flags. Anyone wishing to donate a new 3 by 5 foot flag may buy one at and donate it. Cost is under $10.
Donations may also be made in honor of or in memory of a past or present service man/woman, or any loved one. Drop flags off at Village Hall or 301 Coral (Freddie Riepshoff’s house). Checks or cash maybe left with Village Clerk or with Riepshoff, and the flags will be purchased.
A list of donors and honorees will be published at a later date.
Movie in the Park
Save the date for another fabulous Movie in the Park. Big Hero 6 will be shown rain or shine at Alhambra Park on Saturday, July 18. This is another free event. Bring kids, lawn chairs and blankets, drinks and snacks of your choice.
