JC Pickle Races Back by popular demand

Alhambra Jaycees will host a fun evening of games, raffles, races and much more on Saturday, March 11, at the Township Park in the Firemen Legion Hall. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and betting begins at 7 p.m. Races will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Included in the festivities will be vibrator races, The Big Wheel, 50/50 drawing, Lotto Board Raffle and Cooler of Booze Raffle. Proceeds to benefit Shriners Hospital.

175th Anniversary Jubilee Meeting

A committee of Alhambra citizens met at the village hall to discuss what the plans are to commemorate the 175th anniversary of Alhambra in 2024. Many suggestions were made and it was decided that on Saturday, April 15, they would have the first fundraiser which will be mouse races.

Details on this project will be reported at a later date. A town logo to be put on t-shirts to be sold was discussed and the committee will be checking on further details before deciding. The Jubilee meeting is open to everyone and the committee would welcome in-put from people of the town. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Village Hall.

Alhambra Rehab and Healthcare

Alhambra Rehab and Healthcare will hold their first annual Easter Egg Hunt from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 1. The Easter Egg Hunt is open to children ages 3-12 years old. They will be separated in groups by ages with the age groups being 3- to 5-year-olds, 6- to 9-year-olds and 10- to 12-year-olds. Prizes will be awarded for special eggs. Donations of candy or plastic eggs would be appreciated. Contact Michelle Lopreste, activity director, at 484-635-5077 for further information.

Alhambra Primary

March is the beginning of “Read Across America “month. This is when parents and teachers try to get students interested in reading. The school will start the week off by celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday. During this week the students will have fun as they read the different Dr. Seuss books and dress to match the titles. Monday will be wear “wacky socks” day; Tuesday, wear green; Wednesday, mismatched clothes, inside out or backwards; Thursday, favorite hat; and Friday is animal print. A log will be sent home for each student to write down how long they read each day.

Hitz Memorial Home

March will be a busy time for the residents of the Hitz Home. Their calendar is filled with fun things to keep everyone entertained. Each day starts off with a daily devotional. It is also a good way to sit and enjoy coffee with friends. Games are played and snacks for those that want them.

During the week, included will be visits for those that find it difficult to leave their rooms, exercise classes to help keep everyone limber and moving freely, nailcare and hair styles to make the ladies feel better. At 10 a.m. Sundays at, church service with Salem UCC will take place and Mondays will feature Bible study. Bingo with the auxiliary will be Thursday, March 9, and the monthly birthday party for all celebrating in March will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
