Grantfork Elementary

  • The Illinois State Board of Education is offering the parents an opportunity to rate their children’s school. This may be kept anonymous or may be signed. The website will only be up for a short period of time, so should you be interested in giving feedback, do not delay. The website is: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
  • Through Friday, March 17, will be the week for skating in .P.E.
  • There will be a Family Science Night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21.
  • Baby pictures are being collected for the yearbook. Please send in a not-too-embarrassing, fun baby picture electronically or hard copies will be returned. Be sure to put the name on the back.

PTO News

  • The next PTO meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16. This is a virtual meeting via Zoom.
  • The PTO will be taking orders for Perfect Pastries — formerly Butterbraids — from now until Monday, March 13. Pick-up orders Monday, April 3.

St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church

  • The Stations of the Cross will be observed during Lent at 6 p.m. Wednesdays.
  • Congratulations to two of our young parishioners. Makayla Korsemeyer won second place for her State of Illinois VFW Patriot Pen Essay. The Highland VFW Post 5694 and Auxiliary sponsored her. Nathaniel Straube won a first place award at the 41st Annual Gateway Mid-America Toy Show - Junior Division for his farm layout model depicting his grandparents’ farm. Nathaniel is the grandson of Delmar and Marlene Korsemeyer.

Grantfork Historical Society

The Grantfork Historical Society would like to thank all who purchased the Christmas ornaments depicting the Grantfork UCC and St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church. This made it possible for the Society to give each of the churches over $750 each.

Members of the UFO will be making and supplying pies for the VFW Lenten fish fry from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 10, in Highland.
