Troy Lions Homecoming is this weekend
The Troy Lions Homecoming will be held in the Tri-Township Park on Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25. This year’s theme is “The Music of Troy.”
“The Homecoming includes so many things — parade, food, music, carnival rides and games. Even if you just see a friend, one you saw yesterday or one you haven’t seen for months or years. There is something for everyone at the homecoming,” Dan Jackson, Lion Homecoming chairman.
It all starts on Thursday evening with the Children’s Character parade at 6:30 pm. Sponsored by the Troy Jaycees, the parade runs through Tri-Township Park.
All of the rides will be operating on Thursday evening. All-you-can-ride wristbands will be available once again from 5 to 9 p.m. Each wristband is $16, and each purchase also provides an entry into a raffle for either a girls or boys bicycle. The drawing will be at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, and you must be present to win.
Thursday night will be completely family-friendly. Vendor stands will be open, and the Boy Scouts will be selling food. However, to keep the night fun for all ages, no alcohol will be served.
The main parade will be held on both Friday and Saturday. On Friday, it will start at 7 p.m., while the parade on Saturday will start at 6 p.m.
The fun will continue into the night after each parade. Local choirs will perform on the main stage beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday night. Sweetbottom and Avery Hill will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
For the kids, or the kids at heart, strips of 10 carnival ride tickets, normally $25, are available for pre-sale at the discounted price of $23. They are usable Thursday through Saturday and can be found at Joe’s Pizza, TheBANK of Edwardsville, Scott Credit Union, FCB in Troy, First National Bank in Troy, the Tri-Township Park, and the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob Chamber of Commerce.
